I was Born to Run

 

God, the times I listened to this!  Released on August 25, 1975, about a month before my 15th birthday, Born to Run proved to be one of the soundtracks to my youth. A real corker of an album, from the days when every track counted.

I think I remember buying a boxed set next, which included  Darkness on the Edge of Town,  Greetings from asbury park, The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle? I can't find a reference to it on the net though.

By the time The River came out in 1980, I'd moved on to pastures & sounds new, although you'll have a hard job persuading me that he released anything to match these first 4 cuts. Along came 1977, punk & all that, and my time for Bruce diminished.

As an aside, Steven Van Zandt, aka Little Steven or Miami Steve, was a long time member of Bruce's band, and of course In 1999, Van Zandt took one of the lead roles in The Sopranos, playing level-headed but deadly mob consigliere and strip club owner Silvio Dante. What a life he must have led. I wonder if that's his arse on the cover of Born To Run...

An excellent day was had @ Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo. A really first rate modern Zoo & attraction. Pity I was too engrossed to take any good photos.

My firstborn Child, Mother of Castles, Lady Angharad Rhiannon Howell-Parry, has set me the task, in my otium, to hunt down & catalogue the interpretation features of all the Cadw monuments in Wales. As they all belong to her. 

Starting at home, I am radiating outwards, hence the first in this series is Oxwich Castle, or Castell Oxwich in Welsh.

It was closed. It seems that it usually is.

Dog days

Positives:-

A welcome home

Company when alone

A reason to exercise

Can be non shedding / "hypoallergenic"

Funny & playful

Something to cwtch

A watchdog / guard dog (perhaps)

Cute factor - love (?)

Negatives:-

Need to train (successfully)

Cost :- Food / Insurance / vets bills / kennels / equipment / calming drugs / treats / haircuts

Smell

Noise

Need to exercise 

Destruction of things

Pain for guests

Need to look after ( kennels)

Need to attend

Getting woken up / disturbed 

Clearing up shite

Bites

Fur/hair - shedding 

Annoyance factor - hate (?) 

Conclusion :-

Why on earth didn't we do this before getting a dog?

IMDB: 28 Weeks later.  6.9/10

Feck what an opening! Robert Carlyle in zombie hell. Then the zombies die of starvation & the Yanks arrive to clear up. Idris Elba & Jeremy Renner. Then it all goes tits up. It gets worse, & turns into a gratuitous bloodfest.
