Istanbul not Constantinople

 

The anniversary of the fall of Constantinople in 1453 has just passed. The Greeks remember it thus

Darn. I feel a certain affinity with Constantinople, dunno why, I just guess that the history of that place is so rich. 1000 years as the Capital of the Roman Empire. Longer than Rome. The story of its fall is fascinating, and the subject of many documentaries/historical fiction, and literature. A real internet worm if you have time to spend.
