Nye
We saw Nye @ the Millennium Centre Cardiff today. Starring Michael Sheen, Wales's own 'Not for Profit' actor.
What a great man. A quick scan of his wiki 'Political and Social activism' section reveals the depth of his greatness.
First time for me in the MC. What an impressive venue! Loads of legroom, wide comfy seats, and capacious areas outside to mingle.
The play was superb. Charting Bevan's life through the window of his morphine induced dreams as he was lying in his (NHS) hospital bed. From early life in the valleys, his political awakening, his anti-war stands, and eventually the traumatic birth of the National Health Service. Punchy, sharp summaries of the turning points of his career.
The Acting was outstanding. From the twinkle in his eye, to the fire in his belly, Sheen roared out the passion behind Bevan. The other leads complimented this perfectly, with passion & humour in just the right measure. There was even a fantastic musical number set in the middle of the action. Chapeau to all the company.
10/10 (really)
